CARDINGTON.

I received the following E mail from Graham Brooker,

son of the late Ken Brooker,

with a number of photos which I an spreading through the site,16/11/2014.

Hello Les,

are you still running the RAF ex cooks website? if so I have some  information and photos about my father Ken Brooker who served between 1948-1975 finishing his career as flt/sgt at Halton.
He did his basic training at Cardington then went to Halton, Sutton Bridge, Damesfield and Hereford . Between
1950-1952 he was in the middle east at El Firdan, Shaibah and Mosul. On his return to the UK he was stationed at Wattishham  1952-1955 , a lot of his time here spent on various exercises including Kelvdon Hatch, Weasle Teck, West Toffs, and the RAF Henley Rover works visit in February 1955.
1956-58 was spent at RAF Luqa, Malta, before returning to Henlow 1958-64 with a survival course in Wales in '61 and advanced training at Hereford in '62-'63. while he was in Masirah in 64-65 his family were billeted at West Malling.
his next posting was to PMH Halton 65 '67,at this time he applied to be Air Marshall Gus Walkers chef, only being turned down becuase of his family situation.  A spell at AFCENT Brunsum/ Mastricht between '67-70 where he was Chairman of the British families association and he was described as " the most complete NCO that I have encountered of any nationality" by one USAF officer was followed by a return to  Halton, and some time at Spitalgate before retiring and settling in Aylesbury. During his retirement he was an active member of the local Royal British Legion branch in Aston Clinton being chairman, treasurer and poppy organiser . Ken died on 3rd October 2014 aged 83 after a short illness, he leaves his wife, Eileen, two sons and a grandaughter.
