To: Les Haines
I have just come across the Memory Lane entry by Alan Sutcliffe. On looking at his photo I now remember him as a happy member of Haraklis. The person on the left is Jim Wells, I am Eric Ramm we were both Ground Wireless Fitters at Haraklis from Jun 1955 to Dec 1957 and we still keep in contact. Is this of any interest to Alen or Clive Bottoms? I can be contacted on my email address for further details.

My husband, Donald MacKenzie, did his National Service from April 1953 to April 1955. During that time he trained as a cook
first at RAF Padgate from April to July 1953 and was then posted to RAF Grove Nr Wantage, Berks where he served the rest of his time. Sadly Donald passed away in July 2017 and I miss him dreadfully. He often talked of his National Service days and I have all the letters he wrote to me during that period. I only know of one cook who served with him and he was Bob Anderson. Donald came from Inverness and I think Bob came from Fraserburgh in Scotland. We always intended to go through all the letters together again when we retired but it just never happened and now I am trying to pick up the pieces for him. His particulars are
2580392 AC/2 MacKenzie D
Hut 5 Flight 16
D Squadrom
No 2 R.T. Wing
RAF Padgate, Warrington
and
2580392 AC MacKenzie D
Billet H
RAF Grove
Wantage, Berkshire
I know he passed some cooking exams while at RAF Grove and had group photos taken at both camps. Unfortunately, although he promised copies to me at the time, I never got them, so I would be very glad to hear of anyone who might have served with him at either of these camps and if they have any photos I would be very glad to have copies. I think inevitably he was known as "Mac" as he was one of very few Scots there. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi, my Dad was a RAF cook 1955 - 1958. He was stationed at RAF Geilenkirchen, but was attached to various other bases and a hospital during his time. I have some photos from his RAF photo album if they are of interest.

Dear Sir,
Starting at 4.30pm on the 25th of September, a commemoration will take place in the Petruskerk in Hees, Nijmegen, marking seventy years since the crash of a British Mitchell Mk.II medium bomber very close to the church, resulting in the deaths of both Air Force personnel and Dutch civilians. This is to be a very unusual memorial service due to the length of the intervening time, and also important one, with the Mayor of Nijmegen Hubert Bruls, members of 320 Squadron, and relatives of the air crew, and finishing with a Spitfire flypast! Hi all,
hope you like the new Website, and I am still building it. When you sign in make sure you only use the BLACK code letters, I did the lot the first time and wondered why I kept being asked to re type them, must have had a Senior Moment.
Les Haines.
